Phase III Clinical Trials

Phase III Clinical Trials

The efficacy of ACTEMRA in alleviating the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) was assessed in five randomised, double-blind, multicentre Phase III studies. The studies OPTION, TOWARD and LITHE investigated the efficacy and safety of tocilizumab in patients with inadequate response to one or more DMARDs (DMARD-IR). All studies enrolled patients ≥18 years of age with active RA diagnosed according to the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) criteria and who had at least eight tender and six swollen joints at baseline.
